For eager fans around the country, the wait is nearly over — the release of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee is just on the horizon. The legendary model is returning after a brief hiatus and is bringing some exciting new advancements along with it! Among the most exciting information available about the 2026 Cherokee is that it is expected to run on a hybrid powertrain. Jeep notes this system will consist of a 1.6L 4-cylinder Turbo Hybrid engine and two electric motors, delivering up to 210 horsepower and 230 lb.-ft. of torque. All of that power is set to be backed by an impressive fuel economy, achieving an estimated 37 MPG combined1 and covering 500 miles per tank of gas2. Initial information also reveals an impressive 3,500-lb. estimated towing capacity3, fit to haul a small boat out for a day of fishing on Lake Virginia. 4x4 capability with rear-axle disconnect is also expected to be standard, making this SUV a strong off-road companion.
Technology
The cockpit of the 2026 Jeep Cherokee looks to be loaded with a wealth of infotainment features that our staff is excited about, starting with its standard 12.3-inch touchscreen. This expansive display is set to come outfitted with standard wireless Apple CarPlay®4 and Android Auto™5 compatibility, making it easy to cue up your favorite playlists. The model is also expected to include a standard 10.25-inch Digital Cluster Display behind the steering wheel, which will show real-time driving stats, song information, and more. Information also indicates that available features, such as a wireless charging pad and Digital Rearview Mirror, are going to be offered for enhanced convenience.
Interior
Comfort and practicality appear to be at the forefront of this SUV based on available information, with an available 8-way power-adjustable driver’s seat set to include optional heating and ventilation. A variety of upholstery options are expected to be available as well, from Labirinth Embossed Arctic Soul Cloth to Black Capri Leatherette. Jeep also indicated it will include a standard dual-pane automatic sunroof for drivers who want to feel a breeze as they cruise down I-4. The cargo area should be bigger than previous renditions of the Cherokee, with 33.6 cu. ft. of rear storage space reported to be on offer — a total that will jump to 68.3 cu. ft. with the second-row seats folded down.
