All About the New 2021 Jeep Renegade

Greenway Dodge – 2021 Jeep Renegade
The 2021 Jeep Renegade arrives at a time when subcompact crossovers are a dime a dozen but are otherwise sparse in features and excitement. The Renegade steps up with its off-road focus (especially with the best-in-class Trailhawk model), easy-to-use tech features, and agile handling. The following are the trim levels of the 2021 Jeep Renegade.

SPORT: The standard powertrain consists of a 2.4-liter 180-horsepower four-cylinder engine and a nine-speed automatic transmission, with power sent to the front wheels. There’s the option of a four-wheel-drive system—namely, the Active Drive—for handling rough and bumpy terrain. With four-wheel drive, the Renegade gains a terrain management system with four driving modes to optimize all-weather capability. However, for a peak fuel economy of 22 mpg in the city and 30 mpg on the highway—as well as a max tow rating of 2,000 lbs. with the Class III tow package—stick with the standard front-wheel-drive system. A five-seater, the Sport has a 7-inch touchscreen (in place of the 5-inch one of previous model years) that integrates the following features:
• Six speakers
• AM/FM radio tuner
• Bluetooth wireless technology for hands-free phone calling and audio streaming
• Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone integration (new for this model year)
• USB port hooking up mobile devices
• Trial subscription to SiriusXM Radio
In addition to its improved infotainment system, the Renegade receives remote keyless entry for easy and secure access, push-button engine start for more convenient engine starting, and a dual-zone automatic climate control system. For 2021, the Renegade gains a rearview camera as a standard driver-assistance feature to flash a video image when moving backwards at low speeds. Other standard driver-assistance technologies
• Front collision warning
• Automatic emergency braking
• Blind-spot warning
• Rear cross-traffic alert
• Lane departure warning
• Lane keep assist
In the event of a crash, the Renegade can deploy any of its six airbags, which consist of dual frontal impact airbags, dual side impact airbags, and dual side curtain airbags.
JEEPSTER: New for 2021, the Jeepster upgrades the base-level Sport with a proximity keyless entry system (in place of remote keyless entry) and remote start.
LATITUDE: The Latitude includes the Sport’s features and adds a second USB port for playing content from or charging mobile devices.
UPLAND: The Upland is where the Renegade gets a first upgrade of its off-road capabilities. The Renegade at this trim level gains tow hooks, a front skid plate, and more ground clearance with a restyled front bumper, and it is one of three models with standard four-wheel drive. Notably, remote start, which is introduced at the Jeepster level but skips the Latitude, returns with the Upland.
80TH ANNIVERSARY: The 80th Anniversary model is another new trim level for 2021. Commemorating eight decades of the Jeep brand, the 80th Anniversary Renegade is unique with its Granite Crystal Metallic exterior, commemorative badging, and sleek bezel finishes. Manufacturer Chrysler replaces the 7-inch touchscreen with a larger, 8.4-inch one and introduces HD Radio and a navigation system.
ISLANDER: The third brand-new model for 2021, the Islander lives up to its name with its exclusive blue exterior finish, beach-inspired design, and a power sunroof.
TRAILHAWK: Although the Upland gets off-road enhancements, go with the Trailhawk for the ultimate trail experience. Exclusive to this model are all-terrain tires, a rear skid plate (in addition the Upland’s front one), higher ground clearance, and the Active Drive Low four-wheel-drive system, which builds on Active Drive’s rear wheel axle disconnect by adding a 20-to-1 crawl ratio and low range (thus the “Low” suffix). The Trailhawk replaces the standard 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine with a 1.3-liter turbo-four with 177 horsepower.
LIMITED: The Limited joins the Trailhawk in having a 1.3-liter turbo-four engine, and it has a standard four-wheel-drive system (albeit the Active Drive instead of Active Drive Low). However, the Limited stands out from the other models with the following:
• Leather seats
• Heated steering wheel
• Eight-way power adjustability on the driver’s seat
• Front-seat heating
In addition, the Limited has the following features:
• Proximity keyless entry
• Remote start
• Navigation system
• 8.4-inch touchscreen
• HD Radio
